It's MESSED UP!!!

ARGGGHHH!!! I know it has a lot to do with the fact that I went BACK to sleep at 9:30 a.m. and didn't wake up until 2:30 p.m. + the jet-lag I am suffering from but YEESH... it's 2:20 a.m. and I cannot fall asleep... I'm not even tired yet!! Alex has been asleep since 8:30 p.m. He didn't even have dinner tonight... And me, I can't get to sleep... I am just reading everyone's blogs!! How long does it take to get over jet-lag when you are returning home?? I know it takes longer than when you are going somewhere and jet-lag seems to be gone by the 2nd or 3rd day...

I'm telling you it usually takes us about 5 days to get back to normal...maybe that's just us, but jet-lag really seems to hit us hard. Good luck!

5 days... I think you're optimistic Alisa (well, it really depends on people)...

Personally, I think that, Leesa, you're screwed for the newt two weeks at least...
Back in the days, when I'd fly from the US to France, one of two things would happen:
-I go home, I'm so tired, I'd go to sleep and then wake up in the evening and then get all messed up for two weeks.
-I am very active as soon as I get off the plane, walk a lot, visit something if I'm not home, go shopping, whatever, but most important no nap... Then I'm so tired from not sleeping for more than a day, that I'll just pass out at 8 or 9 PM and sleep until 10 or 11AM the next day, and then my jetlag is not too bad...

*NOTE to David: Alisa may be a decade younger than us... I remember when I was young... jet lag only lasted me a few days!! I lived/worked /traveled in NZ/OZ for 6 months back in '85... I was 19 yrs old.. When I came back... I remember being okay after a few days... I also remember going on big trips for just a few weeks time- Brasil, Dubai, Europe- when I was in my 20s/early 30s and being quite okay with the jet lag factor... In fact, When I got to NZ afte an 18 hour flight, I only had jet lag for about 2 days... The thing about not going to sleep right away... and just waiting for the regular time to go to sleep on the country's time zone worked pretty good... BTW, I can't sleep at night.. and I get tired midday! I am just taking it easy this week 'cuz I feel like a ZOMBIE... I need some good Mexican food and frozen yogurt to pump me up!! : P

It's always worse coming back. I guess that is an West-East thing, not just the fact that when we get back from the USA, we are at the end of the trip and out of adrenalin.

Yeah, I think that flying East is always worse... Well, I guess it also depends on the actual distance, but between the US and Europe, flying to the US the jetlag usually just makes you get up earlier and go to bed earlier... Flying to Europe, days become nights and nights become days...

Betty/David- I think you guys are right about the West-East thing... I keep napping during the day for several hours and sleeping late (probabAlso, the whole time we were in San Diego, we went to bed around 10 pm- here in France always around midnight/1 am... But, we also did a lot during the day.. I would get up around 5:45 every morning and walk with Shelly to and along the beach (Windnsea) and back (about an hour's walk)... Our days were really long over there but here in France, my days are quiet and non-eventful...
